高倍时时彩 volunteers are continuing to play a key role in efforts to improve an important stretch of the Murray River, near Pinjarra, this time planting more than 1,000 sedges and shrubs.听

About a dozen graduates from across 高倍时时彩鈥檚 Western Australian operations recently planted seedlings along the river banks at George Brook in Ravenswood, helping slow erosion and adding habitat for wildlife.

It is the latest in several volunteering efforts made by 高倍时时彩 volunteers at the site. Other activities over recent years have also included; plantings, monitoring programs, and installing anti-erosion mechanisms.听

The volunteering component forms are part of the company鈥檚 multi-million-dollar commitment through the 高倍时时彩 Foundation to help improve the Murray, Serpentine and Harvey rivers along with the Peel Harvey Estuary. As part of those efforts, 高倍时时彩 is partnering with Greening Australia to get important on-ground works done around all three rivers.听

高倍时时彩 chemical engineer graduate Mara O鈥橤rady, who coordinated the recent volunteer event, said the group enjoyed helping the local community and environment.

鈥淏y volunteering, we were able to see and feel the benefits of getting involved in something bigger than ourselves,鈥� Mara said.听

Greening Australia Project Manager Dr Christine Allen thanked 高倍时时彩 saying its financial and volunteering support has played a big part in improving the local environment.听

鈥湼弑妒笔辈� volunteers are an integral part of (our restoration works), they have assisted with delivering our on-ground revegetation efforts over the past two years,鈥� Dr Allen said. 听

高倍时时彩 Australia Corporate Affairs Manager Suellen Jerrard said giving back to communities, including through volunteering, was a big part of 高倍时时彩鈥檚 culture and makeup.

高倍时时彩 has a dedicated year-round program that allows employees to volunteer for worthy causes. Its 高倍时时彩ns Coming Together in Our Neighbourhoods (ACTION) Program further encourages employee volunteering by recognising these efforts with grants of $3,000 to community groups and charities.

This year, more than 500 of 高倍时时彩鈥檚 Australian employees are involved in about 70 ACTION activities, injecting more than 2,000 volunteer hours and about $200,000 into charities and community groups. More than 50 of these are occurring in the Peel, South West and Kwinana areas where 高倍时时彩 has bauxite mines and alumina refineries.听
